Protect Yourself Against Gadget Failure With Insurance
by CompTech on Mar.06, 2010, under New Technology
Technology these days to amazing, no question about it. With new recent breakthroughs in the form of the new iPhone being able to recognise voice recognition to the new announcement that Microsofts Project Natal for the Xbox 360 is set to have full body motion sensing capabilities with no wires and nothing plugged into you in any way at all.
However what happens when something goes wrong with it? Sometimes it can cost nearly as much as you paid for the item just to send it off for repair which is where companies are going wrong. The majority of the time when they go wrong, it’s down to the manufacturer for not making it well to begin with. Even though the Xbox 360 is clearly the more superior console in this current generation of console, it’s still hosting some flaws. The three red rings. Now to any Xbox 360 owner, when they see the three red rings, it’s just the same as handing your wallet over to a thief. Unless you are still within your warranty you are looking at paying at least 50 to have to send it off to be repaired for a problem that should not have been there in the first place.
This never used to happen with older consoles like the N64 or the Playstation 1, however, now the problem is becoming more widespread. We are seeing more and more Playstation 3’s and Nintendo Wii’s being sent off, as well as the normal flow of Xbox’s. The reason for the rise in repairs could be down to the large amount of games that are being released recently so more people are playing their consoles, or it could simply be that the manufacturers are just churning out the consoles to make money and not fix problems.
There are solutions now to avoid you having to fork out the cash and it comes from gadget insurance. You can purchase insurance for up to any 5 of your gadgets and it will cost you only 20 pounds a month. The price may seem slightly high, but if you consider having to pay for just one gadget to be repaired each month, you would end up paying more. The primary reason is because the cost to repair gadgets, if you dropped your iPhone, you would get given a 100 pound repair bill. If you think about the money, paying 20 pound every month to insure 5 gadgets is a good price, rather than spending 100 pound every time you drop your iPhone. As well as this, for fixing consoles like the Nintendo Wii, sometimes it would be cheaper to buy a new one as they can charge you up to around 180 pounds for a repair.
You don’t have to pay to insure 5 items though, whether it’s an iPod or an Xbox, you can simply pay for iPod insurance for cheaper. Unfortunately, a large number of home emergency insurance policies won’t cover damage to your gadgets like iPods and consoles.
i-Phone has become a major success
by CompTech on Nov.24, 2009, under New Technology
The phone itself seems to be selling more by the hour but how is this happening? The thing is, the phone has taken years to develop which is why it sells so well, it has years of technology pushed inside it.
One of the things that attracted me to the product is the fact that it was a combination of a phone and an ipod. The App store can give you anything from football scores to games and Google Earth.
{Recently 02’s exclusive two year contract with Apple has run out and Vodaphone as well as Orange have both stepped in to snap up deals with them}. In just a few months both of these giant companies are going to be able to put the phone on the shelf for sale. However are they going to see a change in the people buying the phone, are people likely to buy the phone simply because another provider is set to sell the phone? People have a favourite provider that is certain so perhaps a few extra sales will be on the way in the New Year.
Be warned, this phone is not cheap and you shouldnt touch it if you think for one second you wont be able to afford it, costs are important. The cost of the phone itself isn’t cheap and can be even worse if it breaks and you do not have something like Gadget Insurance. The problem with insurance is that it costs a lot of money and just sits there until you need it and even then you may never use it. Everyone drops the phone at one stage and it could be that you drop yours on concrete and it smashes. Personally I have dropped mine about five times and it has managed to survive so it is possible not to have insurance although I would reccomend it.
Of course there are insurance policies available for a number of things from camera insurance as well as the obvious iPhone insurance. Insurance in the long run could benefit you as gadgets are very expensive to actually replace.

Protect Your Gadget and Your Wallet With Insurance
by CompTech on Oct.02, 2009, under New Technology
Technology is great there is no doubt about that. With new recent breakthroughs in the form of the new iPhone being able to recognise voice recognition to the new announcement that Microsofts Project Natal for the Xbox 360 is set to have full body motion sensing capabilities with no wires and nothing plugged into you in any way at all.
However, what happens when a part inside breaks? Many manufacturers are going wrong with repairs because it some cases, the price to repair the item is higher than the price you paid to buy it. A large number of cases is never down to the user, normally it’s because the product wasn’t made correctly to begin with. Despite the Xbox 360 being the best console to have in this current console generation, it’s been found to have had one major flaw. The red rings. Now to any Xbox 360 owner, when they see the three red rings, it’s just the same as handing your wallet over to a thief. Unless you are still within your warranty you are looking at paying at least 50 to have to send it off to be repaired for a problem that should not have been there in the first place.
It always used to be a rare occurence if your N64 or Playstation 1 broke, however, we are still seeing the flow of broken Xbox’s, but we are also seeing Playstation 3’s and Nitendo Wii’s being sent away to be fixed. It could be down to more people are playing games due to the huge amount being released within the last few months, or, it could be down to the manufacturers not fixing the problems and just selling more machines.
There is now a solution to this that helps you save money, gadget insurance. You can purchase insurance for up to any 5 of your gadgets and it will cost you only 20 pounds a month. Although the price does seem high, it’s alot less than if you had to repair just one of your gadgets each month. The main reason for the price of the insurance is because the cost of repairing gadgets is not cheap, repairing an iPhone that had been dropped would cost 100 pound to repair. If you think about the money, paying 20 pound every month to insure 5 gadgets is a good price, rather than spending 100 pound every time you drop your iPhone. As well as this when it comes to fixing consoles such as the Nintendo Wii it is actually cheaper to buy a new console than top fix it which again is going to cost you a whopping 180.
You are not required to insure 5 items if you don’t want to, you can simply pay for Xbox 360 Insurance by itself. Unfortunately, a great deal of home emergency insurance policies don’t cover your gadgets like iPods and gaming consoles.
The mobile phone craze
by CompTech on Aug.15, 2009, under New Technology
A recent poll has show that British people are not addicted to drugs, women and other such things but thier mobile phones. The poll states that a wopping 88% of us will not leave our homes without taking thier mobile phone. This just goes to show that without things like mobile phones in thier pockets people would be lost. This goes on to say that an insanely high amount of 53,658,000 phones are carried around in bags and pockets in the streets of the UK every single day. In truth Britain sends over 1 Billion texts a week putting us into the top 6 for texting in the world which is ridiculous considering Britain is such a small country.
The poll went on to say that over anything else a mobile is the one thing we will always take with us even over a wallet or purse which is certainly an eye opener. Funnily enough the midlands saw the best/worst result depending on how you look at things with a massive 98% of people saying they carried it with them all the time.
The question to ask is why? The answer really is quite simple. The amount of things a mobile phone can now do is astronomical ranging from a simple text or call to checking the bank details online or even getting insurance quotes. The mobile phone is one of those technlogy's that seems to be advancing more and more not every year but every few months with some phones even now containing voice recognition! As well as this you can now watch television as well as your favourite film all from the touch of a button on the phone as well as look at quotes from different car insurance firms!
Of course it does mean that muggings have risen simply because there are simply more phones out there to take as well as the question are we becoming too dependent on technology? It wasn’t like this 30 years ago and it seems to be that younger generations are becoming increasingly lazier.
If technology is your thing then why not look for gadget insurance to make sure your favourite new gadget is protected against anything and everything!
