Selling your used car and the effect of a maintenance record

by CompTech on Oct.05, 2009, under New Technology

One of the things that a lot of people are doing now is wanting the maintenace records when buying a used car. Most people are now wanting to see if a car they want to buy has a record of maintenance. Because after all if somebody took care of a car you can trust it will last longer. So when you have a car it is more important to keep good records.Because quite a few buyers are now wanting to see that.

So one of the things you want to make sure to do is to keep a receipt of all service you do for your car.  In my San Diego auto repair business I make sure to give all my clients a receipt of the work that was done.  Make sure whichever company you take your car into does the same.  This could mean the difference in getting the price you want or settling for a lot less.

Also, when you have your car taken in for a tune up, don’t forget to keep a record of it.Getting your car tuned up regularly will allow your car to last longer and run smoother.  It also helps to get your car to pass a smog test much easier.  In my San Dieg smog check center I notice cars that weren’t tuned up regularly are the ones that fail the test.

Finallly even for getting your brakes serviced you want to make sure to keep good records of that service. This is another important part of making sure your car is taken care of.  It is also something a potential buyer will look at.  Because the last thing a new buyer wants is a big expensive brake service they need.  So in my San Diego brake shop I make sure to give a thorough report to all my clients.

Now hopefully you can see the value in maintaining your car is you want to sell it for a lot of money.  Buyers want good cars that were maintained.By taking care to keep all maintenance records you will be able to prove that you did maintain it.

by CompTech on Sep.13, 2009, under New Technology

In today’s world, most everybody will need a car.A few people even need the use of planes.  But for most a car is essential for living. It gets people to and from work.It can get people to shopping centers.  It takes people to school. So what I have to share with you is the 3 crucial parts of having your car in good working order.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company. The two things I want to take a look at is your safety and the overall health of your car.

So when it comes to safety you can put all types of maintenance as being critical to safety. But there is a part of your car that is critical to safety. That part of the car is your brakes. With cars being able to travel much faster than before, good brakes are essential for safety. With more and more people having so many distractions good brakes are a must.By ensuring that your brakes are in good condition you will ensure yourself the ability to stop in time.  Well taken care of brakes save lives and money.  I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brakes shop.

In reference to keeping your car healthy the critical thing to remember is to keep your car maintained.  Some of the important things to do are oil changes and tuneups. By making an effort to always change the oil you allow your car to run smoother and longer.By not always changing your oil you run the chance of ruining your engine.

Another important thing you have to do is make sure you get regular tune ups.If you are able to accomplish that, you will keep your car’s major functions running properly.  By doing this once again your car will runner smoother and cleaner. If you are unable to do this your car will be running very badly. Some things that can happen when you don’t do that is a failed smog test.  Most of the cars that fail in my San Diego smog check shop are the ones that didn’t take care of those things.

So by making sure to accomplish this you will be ensuring the safety of your car and you and your loved ones.

Great ideas on how to save money with your car

by CompTech on Aug.31, 2009, under New Technology

Today many Americans are looking for ways to save money. With the current state of the economy who can blame them. They try to cut expenses any way possible.  Maybe they go out less.  Don’t buy things they don’t need. But what I would like to look at is a way that you probably haven’t thought too much about.  That way is in your car.

When people think of saving money with their cars, they think of gas. They try to figure out ways to use less gas and spend less on gas.But what I would like to point out that if your car is properly cared for you will save more in the long run.  I know this for a fact running my San Diego auto repair company.

With cars in general a lot of people don’t even consider maintaining it. Unfortunately the only time they do think about it, is when it is too late. They wait for the inevitable part breaking down or something going wrong. But from what I have witnessed doing this and waiting ends up making the auto repair expenses more costly.

Your brakes let examine for instance. If you can keep your brakes properly maintained you can prevent expensive repairs.  If you don’t you can  have expensive discs you have to repair.  Or you might have  to replace the brake shoes.  By properly using your brakes and maintaining them you can save money.  So take it in to a brake shop like my San Diego brake shop and you can find out if you need to do anything.Things like checking the brake fluid to make sure there is enough.

Or people don’t get tuneups with their car.  They let the engine go.They do not do an oil change as frequently as they should. This leads to your cars engine running bad.So bad that the chances of it passing a smog test is slim at best.  From what I have seen running a smog test San Diego shop, if you fail a smog test, this can lead to expensive repairs just to get it to pass.

But if you properly maintain your car you can keep it in good shape. The motor is going to run much smoother and proper.Wait longer then you should and you will end up spending a lot more money then expected.

Hopefully this gave you some good ideas that maintaining your car can actually save money. Spend less now and you will get to spend less in the future.

The economy we are faced with we need all the ways possible to save money. It does not take a rocket scientist to notice that a lot of Americans are suffering during this economy. But instead of moaning about a lot of things, we can search out other ways to save money.

So I would like to offer some perspective from a San Diego auto repair shop owner.  Now you might think I am biased but hear me out. After reading this it should be clearer to you that you can save money and that it makes sense.

One of methods of saving money is to try and keep our cars for longer periods of time. In the heyday of this decade when the economy seemed to be so good people traded in cars left and right. They would just trade their cars as soon as it was too old.So the fact of the matter is a lot of people never thought of maintaining their car.

Well in the shape the economy is in, that is not a luxury for most people now. Most folks won’t be able to just get a brand new car nowadays.People now must keep the old ones longer. What it means is you will have to make an effort to maintain their cars.

One of the key maintenance items is making sure your car can pass a smog test.Once you have an older car it will be a required law.  If you don’t pass a smog test, it can turn into expensive repairs.  I know this first hand running my San Diego smog check shop.

There are a few things you might to make certain you are able to pass the test. You must keep you car tuned up always. You can make certain you change the oil filter and oil.  You can make sure the muffler is in good working order.

This is where you can lose money. If you don’t pass the smog test this might be the start of some expensive repairs.  So by making sure you follow these maintenance procedures so you can save money.By putting in the time and effort in maintenance now will cause you to not have to spend on big repairs later.

Don’t forget to also maintain your brakes.  With my experience with our San Diego brakes shop this is important as well. By ensuring that the brakes pads you have aren’t wworn down you can make your disc brakes last longer. Not keeping it maintained can cause very expensive repairs.Follow these tips and you won’t have a problem saving money.
